About Matt
Hi, I’m Matt. This is where I’m supposed to tell you stuff about myself. In no particular order, I am a Catholic, an American, a Texan, a Houstonian, a conservative, a Republican, a Knight of Columbus, a Notre Dame alumnus, a blogger and a beer drinker.
Now, the life story.
I was born January 13, 1982 in a raging blizzard in Houston, Texas. It was a good omen.
Following my top-notch education at John Paul II Catholic School (Go Saints!) and St. Pius X High School (Go Panthers!), I headed off to the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!). I graduated in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy.
While at Notre Dame, I worked three years at The Observer, the daily student newspaper. I’d always been a news junkie, but that’s where it really took form. I wrote a lot for the business, ROTC and student government beats, picked wire stories and photos, wrote headlines and laid out the business and world/national news pages.
After college, I moved back to Houston, bought a house, and went to work in the commercial real estate business.
When I’m not working or blogging, I enjoy movies, homebrewing, cooking, Knights of Columbus events, volunteering at St. Pius, and spending time with my family and my girlfriend. I’ve been known to play a little XBox, too.
